Morgan Freeman

Coloured Pencil Drawing

This is a coloured pencil portrait that I drew of Morgan Freeman on A1 paper. This hyper realistic drawing was undertaken to challenge my illustration skills and to practise my eye for detail, shadow and skin tone. I chose Morgan Freeman as the subject as he has such a recognisable face, and has many lines, hairs and wrinkles on his face which create great visual interest. His hair was exceptionally tricky to draw due to it being white, so I had to carefully draw around each hair to leave white negative space. In total, the piece took me around 50 hours to complete.
